Supplier-role comparison
Choose the role required by the project, then verify the named party.
| Role | Typical value | Question before shortlisting |
|---|---|---|
| Machine manufacturer | Direct product engineering and build evidence for its machine | Who owns surrounding equipment and cross-machine interfaces? |
| System integrator | Coordinates interfaces, controls and combined package behavior | Which engineering, tests and liabilities are contractually included? |
| Project coordinator / supplier | Builds comparable options and one communication path | Which manufacturers are proposed and who accepts each obligation? |
| Trader | Commercial sourcing and export support | Can every technical claim and service route be traced to the responsible resource? |
- Issue one brief: give every candidate the same project basis and open-item list.
- Check role fit: confirm the party required for equipment, integration and destination support.
- Score evidence: compare documents, physical proof and contractual responsibility separately from price.
- Normalize offers: close scope gaps and deviations before selecting a preferred supplier.
Questions to close before purchase
Does the supplier ask for enough project information before quoting?
Shortlist suppliers only after they have received the same project brief. A fast price without bottle, capacity, water, pack and utility questions is not evidence of application fit.
Can it explain why each machine is included?
Ask each supplier to explain the equipment sequence, model selection, interfaces, utilities, speed basis and acceptance method. A useful response makes assumptions and alternatives visible.
Are deviations and confirmations recorded in documents you can review?
Score the evidence and responsibility boundary separately from price. The lowest quotation can become the highest project cost when equipment, services or acceptance obligations are missing.
